Finally enjoying a spring night, the Decorah girls track team took to the oval at the North Fayette Invite Friday.
Getting a chance to have many entries in every event, the Vikings won the title with 178 points. Central was a distant second with 121 points.
Decorah had six events take the title. In the 200-meter run, Monica Tappe took the crown in 28.75 seconds. Kaitlyn Kregel was dominant in the 400-meter run. She broke the tape in 1:03.69.
In the 1,500-meter run, Shana Kelly posted a winning time of 5:25.58. It took Tori Hartman 1:10.55 to win the 400-meter hurdle event.
Two relays also won a gold medal. In the 4x400 relay, Kregel, Katie Perez, Linnea Kephart and Kalle Solberg broke the tape in 4:21.88. With a time of 10:18.34, Anna Madrigal, Perez, Kregel and Solberg won the 4x800 relay.
