The South Winn girls basketball team (5-3, 4-1 UIC) made it look easy Saturday afternoon by defeating Riceville (0-10) on the road 52-9.

Riceville scored all nine of their points in one quarter, with the halftime score as 22-9.

The Warriors were balanced offensively, with Micole Lansing and Megan Elsbernd leading the way with nine points each. Brittany Shindelar and Kennidee DeVilbiss each popped in eight. Abby Phillips and Becca Franzen contributed five each.

"We struggled with unforced turnovers on the offensive side but had many players contributing points so that was nice to see," said Coach Sherry Poshusta. "Defensively, we're improving. We held Riceville scoreless for three quarters, and we were able to get playing time for the entire bench.

"We're working towards a busy month of January and wanting to stay competitive within the conference."
