Last Thursday the South Winn boys track team traveled to Independence.

In the first outdoor meet of the year, the Warriors were well-represented, taking first place with 159.5 points. Second place went to North-Linn with 117 points.

The Warriors had two varsity events take first. Ben Meyer won the long jump with a season-best of 18 feet, 8.5 inches.

Garrett Bohach, Jared Schroeder, Nathan Meyer and Alex Shatek combined in the 4x400 to win the event in 3:51.67. N. Meyer's time of 57.99 was a lifetime best.

Five events took second. The shuttle hurdle relay of Tyler Numedahl, Chris Brincks, B. Meyer and Luis Uribe clocked in at 1:13.56. Brincks came back to take second in the 110-high hurdles in 18.01 seocnds.

B. Meyer set a season best in the 400-meter dash. His time was 55.47 seconds.

Alex Stammeyer was the silver medalist in the 800-meter run. His time was 2:15.36. Bohach crossed the finish line in 1600-meter run in 5:06.81.
