The South Winn wrestling team is ready for the conference tournament, which is this Saturday.

Last week, the Warriors wrestled in a conference triangular Thursday and in a dual tournament at Alburnett Saturday.



Triangular split

Thursday the Warriors wrestled in a conference triangular at Valley of Elgin. The Warriors split their two matches, falling to MFL 48-31 and defeating host Valley 41-39.

Lars Warth was the only Warrior to win both his matches without a forfeit. At 132 pounds, he picked up a 12-3 major decision over Hunter Fletcher of MFL. It was an 18-3 technical fall over Valley's Spencer Atkinson.

Ben Meyer, wrestling at both 152 and 160 pounds, went undefeated. He pinned Valley's Kelvin Guyer in 5:39 at 152 and received a forfeit at 160 against MFL. Landers Kuboushek threw Geordan Hanson (Valley) in 2:12 at 170 pounds and had a forfeit at 182 against MFL.

Senior Colton Hageman received two forfeits. Chris Brincks, ranked No. 10 in Class 1A, pinned MFL's Michael Knipfel in 1:45. He had a bye against Valley.
