With 11 returning letter winners, new boys swim coach Stephanie Drewes knows the Vikings have the talent it takes to be successful in the pool this winter.

It will be a matter of how the new members develop and putting the right swimmers in the right events that will determine how the season will proceed.
Drewes, who also led the girls team this fall, takes over for Drew Pellett.
Orvis to state
Last year the Vikes made a big splash in the pool.
At the regional meet, the Vikes finished with 66 points. Nearly every swimmer dropped time in their events at the big meet, making Head Coach Drew Pellett proud. The 200 medley relay of Jason Orvis, Erik Orvis, Nolan Heffern and Dalton Matt cut more than three seconds off its time. Isaac Sauer and Sam Poppen dropped 5.76 seconds and 8.51 seconds, respectively, off their 200-yard freestyle times. Mac Faldet cut 5.86 seconds in the 200 IM. Others cutting time included Will Yahr (500 free), Matt (100 fly), Zach Miller (50 free), Tyler Peterson (500 free) and Derek Grube (100 breaststroke).
However, the only Viking qualifying for state was senior J. Orvis. At the big meet, he finished 12th in the backstroke and 18th in the 100-yard freestyle. He holds the school record in that event.
Several other Vikings finished their stellar careers last winter. E. Orvis finished eighth at the district meet in the breaststroke and in the 100 freestyle. Nelson Wiese took 15th in the 200 IM and the backstroke.
