It's official: Decorah's Josey Jewell now bleeds black and gold.
Wednesday morning Jewell signed his letter of intent to play football for the University of Iowa. Jewell joins 20 other athletes expected to sign with the Hawkeyes on the first official day recruits can sign. The Viking was offered a full-ride scholarship Sunday afternoon from Head Coach Kirk Ferentz.
About Jewell's decision
The senior linebacker/running back was offered a scholarship by the University of Northern Iowa and also had his eyes on Iowa State, South Dakota, North Dakota, North Dakota State and Luther. However, when the call came from Iowa, it was too good to be true.
"I was looking for them. When Iowa came through with the scholarship, it was a no brainer," he said.
