This summer’s Lawn Chair Night summer music series schedule is still up in the air.

According to David Lester, incoming president of Downtown Decorah Betterment Association (DDBA), the organization which sponsors the popular Thursday evening event, the schedule is “in a holding pattern.”

“It’s complicated because people sit on the courthouse lawn, which is county property, and the performers set up in the street,” which is city property,” said Lester.

“We thought it would be best to see which direction the city is going before we make any final decisions.”

The Decorah City Council is scheduled to discuss the reopening of city parks and other public spaces at its June 1 Council meeting.

“The general consensus is this event is one thing that could potentially happen. We could approach the county about how to seat people correctly and such,” said Lester.

Lester said the June schedule has been cancelled, but DDBA is hoping to have at least half a season.

“Our hope is that we’ll have some performances in place by mid-summer,” he said.

Lawn Chair Night is a free event which runs Thursday evenings, June through August.
