The Lingonberry in Decorah will host an exciting one-night, one-man performance by award-winning actor/writer/director/producer Ricardo Vazquez Thursday, Aug. 1, at 7:30 p.m.

Award-winning actor/writer/director/producer Ricardo Vázquez performs on stage (the Guthrie Theater, Children's Theatre Company, Ten Thousand Things, Mixed Blood Theater, The History Theater, Atlantic Theater Company (NYC), New York Theatre Workshop (NYC), Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival (NYC), Alabama Shakespeare Festival, HERE Center for the Arts (NYC), Mass MoCA (MA); on television (ABC’s In an Instant season 1 & 2, EVINE network guest host for over 4 years, and M@dabout TV! season 1 & 2); in feature films (Nina of the Woods, Divine Sparks, The Public Domain, Death to Prom, and Farmer of the Year) and in his solo performances Juracán: The Jíbaro and His Three Sons and Escúchame.

Show summary
Juracán: The Jíbaro and his Three Sons traces the history of Puerto Rico, its people and the many visitors who have claimed the island as their own.

This action-packed solo show is a bilingual, family-friendly adventure with music, mask and audience participation. The history of the island from the Taíno kingdoms to the vulture capitalists aiming to turn Old San Juan into a future crypto-utopia for bitcoin billionaires is presented using pieces of debris left over from Hurricane María as the costumes, props and locations.

This piece is performed in the style of traditional street theater – which engages the audience and uses everyday objects to enhance the magic of the characters.

In total, Vazquez plays over 14 characters during the show.

Juracán: El Jibaro y sus Tres Hijos
Juracán: El Hijo y sus Tres Hijos sigue el curso de la historia de Puerto Rico, su gente, y los muchos visitantes que reclaman la isla para ellos mismos.

Este espectáculo con un solo actor está lleno de acción en una aventura bilingüe para toda la familia, con música, máscaras y participación del público. La historia de la isla desde los reinos de los Taínos hasta los buitres capitalistas que aspiran convertir el Viejo San Juan en una futura utopia de cripto para billonarios de bitcoin es presentada usando pedazos de escombros dejados por todos lados por el Huracán María en forma de disfraces,utilería y localidades.

Esta obra es interpretada en el estilo tradicional del teatro de calle - que involucra al público y usa objetos cotidianos para realzar la magia de los personajes.
En total yo protagonizo 14 personajes durante el espectáculo.
