Artist Emillia Noordhoek, will be leading a raku glazing workshop at ArtHaus Sept. 5, from 1 to 4 p.m.

Noordhoek is on an extended stay from Hawaii where she co-created an art center on the island of Malaki. She also is a potter who has studied raku in Japan and she brings her knowledge of the clay and its firing process to ArtHaus.

The one day workshop will be held outside in the parking lot of ArtHaus at 107 West Broadway. Participants of all ages will glaze a pre-thrown bowl with raku glaze and participate as a community in the direct fire glazing of the bowls. The results often create a crackle effect and metalic finish.

Registration is required at as space is limited for social distancing. Wearing closed toe shoes and protective pants are important.
