Artist Emillia Noordhoek will be leading a raku glazing workshop at ArtHaus Saturday, Sept. 5, from 1 to 4 pm.

Noordhoek is on an extended stay from Hawaii where she co-created an art center on the island of Malaki. She also is a potter who has studied raku in Japan and she brings her knowledge of the clay and its firing process to ArtHaus.

The one-day workshop will be held outside in the parking lot of ArtHaus at 107 West Broadway. Participants of all ages will glaze a pre-thrown bowl with raku glaze and participate as a community in the direct fire glazing of the bowls. The results often create a crackle effect and metallic finish. Registration is required at as space is limited for social distancing. Wearing closed toe shoes and protective pants are important.
