Luther College’s Legacy Field is open for business as the Norse football team practiced this week after the installation was completed, providing the Norse with one of the safest and most unique football fields among NCAA Division III institutions. The dedication of Legacy Field is scheduled for noon on Saturday, Sept. 9, followed by a Community Day Picnic. The Norse will open the 2017 home season at 2 p.m. versus St. Olaf College. In response to directives from the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the Presidents Council of the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C), Luther College’s intercollegiate athletic conference passed a resolution Monday to postpone football, women’s and men’s soccer and volleyball to spring 2021. The conference intends to move forward with fall competition in women’s and men’s cross country, women’s golf and women’s tennis. Schedules will be determined and announced at a later date.
  • Luther "One Team Day" fundraiser a success

    Luther College's first annual One Team Day, a one-day fundraising event to support the college's student-athletes, was held Thursday, Nov. 19; and the campaign raised over $300,000 from more than 2,000 donors. The funds raised during this day will support Luther's 19 intercollegiate teams and 500 student-athletes.

  • Leeps named assistant athletic performance coach and director at Luther
    Renae Hartl, Luther College director of intercollegiate athletics, has named Jacob Leeps assistant athletic performance coach. He will also serve as director of Legends Fitness for Life Center. Leeps will officially begin his duties at Luther on Nov. 9.

  • Roger Jaeger receives Athletics Meritorious Service award
    Roger Jaeger, a 1972 graduate of the University of Wisconsin, was presented the Luther College Athletics Meritorious Service Award on Saturday, Oct. 10, as part of the Luther College Virtual Homecoming weekend. A formal in-person ceremony will take place on a date yet to be determined.

  • Jaeger, Leake, Wright inducted into Luther College Athletic Hall of Fame
    John Jaeger, Richard Leake and Dr. Jacki Wright were inducted into the Luther College Athletic Hall of Fame as part of the Luther College Virtual Homecoming weekend Saturday, Oct. 10. A formal in-person Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place on a future date yet to be determined.

  • A-R-C releases announcement regarding winter sports

    As part of an ongoing response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the American Rivers Conference (A-R-C) announced Monday that it will postpone competitions for women’s and men’s basketball, women’s and men’s indoor track and field, and wrestling until no earlier than Jan. 1, 2021. The decision was made by the Presidents Council of the A-R-C, which voted unanimously to approve the recommendation of the A-R-C’s Directors of Athletics Council.

    For the second year in a row the Luther College men’s soccer team advanced to the Elite 8 of the NCAA III National Soccer Tournament. Luther has now advanced to the Round of 8 four times (1996, 2001, 2018, 2019).
