Luther was defeated by Simpson at Buxton Stadium Saturday afternoon, 16-10. The Storm compiled 442 yards of total offense and Luther tallied 383.

At halftime the score was 10-3 in favor of the Storm. Noah Bruckner scored on a two-yard plunge that capped off an 11-play, 63-yard drive with 10:56 remaining in the first quarter that gave the Storm an early 7-0 lead.

On the very next possession, the Norse responded with a 13-play, 60-yard drive that stalled on the Simpson 11-yard line. Jonah Zaimes kicked a 31-yard field goal to make it 7-3.

With 2:34 left in the first half, The Storm’s Zach Kreider kicked a 24-yard field goal to give the Storm the 10-3 advantage at intermission. 

Midway through the third quarter, Michael Lorento connected with Andre Atkins for a 26-yard touchdown that leveled the score at 10-10. Lorento finished the afternoon with 117 yards, connecting on 6-of-13 attempts. Atkins once again led the Norse receiving corp with three catches for 76 yards. 

Simpson regained the lead on the next possession thanks to a 36-yard touchdown strike with 5:59 remaining in the third frame.

In the fourth quarter, neither team could put points on the scoreboard. Late in the frame, Luther produced an 11-play, 65-yard drive that ended with a lost fumble on the Simpson six yard line with 3:03 left in the game. Thanks to three first downs and a 63-yard rush by Bruckner, the Storm ran out the clock and secured the victory.

Luther ran for 266 yards, led by Quon Lambert with a career best 118 yards on 14 carries. Cyrus Butters and Parker Kizer were next with 53 yards. 

Defensively, Jeremy Whalen and Scott Edwards were credited with 14 and 10 tackles respectively. Theses two also recorded a sack each as did Levi Wolter. 

Luther ends its season with an American Rivers Conference record of 1-7 and was 1-9 overall. Simpson improved to 4-4 in the A-R-C, with an overall record of 5-5.
