It will be homecoming celebration unlike no other for Turkey Valley in 2017 as Central Elkader announced  Monday that it will forfeit the game that was scheduled for Friday.
In the past, the homecoming king has been crowned at a pep rally during the week and the queen was crowned at halftime of the football game.
This year, the coronation will be held jointly during the volleyball game versus Postville on Thursday.
The freshman match will begin at 5:30 and two games will be played. The Homecoming Court will be introduced immediately following the those games. The junior varsity teams will then take the court for a best of three game match.
Following the JV match, the homecoming court, along with their parents, will be introduced. After the introductions, the King and Queen will be announced.
There will also be a $5 “tailgate meal” that will begin at 3:30 p.m. in the school and will be available throughout the night or until the food is gone. The meal will consist of a pork sandwich, cheesy potatoes, baked beans and a drink.
The Homecoming dance will be held Friday, Sept. 29, from 8 to 10:30 p.m.
