Admissions Counselor/Assistant

Director of Admissions

Luther College, located in beautiful Decorah, Iowa, is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Admissions Counselor or Assistant Director of Admissions. Primary responsibilities of the position include coordinating the recruitment of students from a specific geographical region, visiting targeted high schools, and attending select college fair programs. Duties also include interviewing prospective students on campus and assisting with other admissions-related activities and events as assigned. Extensive, primary weekday overnight travel up to twelve weeks in the fall and ten weeks in the spring is required. Must be willing to work occasional evenings and weekends for scheduled group events and rotating primarily Saturday office coverage. The position will also evaluate the effectiveness of various recruitment activities and may provide strategic direction.

A bachelor’s degree is required and applicants must have a valid driver’s license. Prior experience in sales, marketing, communication, counseling, or education, prior undergraduate work experience at a private liberal arts college, and fluency in a second language is desirable.

Mechanic/Automation Lead

Luther College seeks applications for a full-time Heating Plant Boiler Operator/ Maintenance Mechanic/Automation Lead. The Boiler Operator will operate the College heating plant in such a manner as to provide constant uninterrupted supply of steam to the Luther campus. Operator will maintain and validate automation systems for proper and accurate operation and help to analyze data to determine operational savings. Service must be performed in a safe method to insure safety to all Luther College faculty, staff, students, and guests. Responsibilities will include; perform proper water and pool tests, maintain steam lines and cooling towers, perform preventative work, assist in unloading fuel transports, and maintain daily records. High School Diploma is required along with mechanical or electrical background. Must hold or be able to obtain Boiler Operator 1 and Boiler Operator 2 certificates, Certified Pool Operators certificate, and State of Iowa Private School or College Routine Maintenance Specialty License (each can be obtained through Luther) and a valid driver’s license. Experience with boiler operation and ability to develop computer skills for spreadsheet, monitoring computerized building automation system, and email also required.
