Decorah Public Library welcomes author Eric Litwin for two family shows at Carrie Lee Auditorium Saturday, Nov. 18.

Litwin is the original author of the beloved first four “Pete the Cat” picture books: I Love My White Shoes, Rocking in My School Shoes, Four Groovy Buttons and Pete the Cat Saves Christmas. These four books have sold over 10 million copies, are No. 1 New York Times bestsellers, have been translated into 14 languages and have won 19 state and national literacy awards including a Theodor Geisel Seuss Honor Award.

Doors will open for Litwin’s 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. performances 30 minutes prior to the shows. The morning performance has been sold out, but tickets are still available for the afternoon performance.

Those interested in attending are asked to register in advance, via the library website at

Following both performances, Litwin will do a book signing, and says he loves to sign books for families.

Books may be purchased at either Dragonfly Books or Once Upon a Time Book Shop in Decorah prior to the event. (Note: the Pete the Cat character has been written by more than one author.  He will sign books new or old but can only sign the books he wrote.)

Litwin’s performances are sponsored by Friends of the Decorah Public Library with support from the Walmart Foundation. They are free and open to the public.

The Decorah Community School District is hosting this event. For additional information, contact Joan Roach, children’s and youth librarian, at or 563-382-3717.
