A live staged reading, with nine characters, of “The Dream Café Musical” by Katie O’Regan will be performed Thursday, Aug. 20, at Gray’s Barn Outdoor Theatre in Spring Grove, Minn.

The cast includes an all-star line-up of regional talent, many of whom will be known to fans of Ye Olde Opera House productions. Cast members, in order of appearance, are: Violet Rose – Narrator One, played by Violet Hatfield; Frenchy (Bill Fried); Cindy (Kay M. Capps Cross); Herb (Lee Grippen); Fenny (Mark Schroeder); Mara (Rachel Storlie); Leo (David Storlie); Marcello (Greg Wennes); William (John Storlie); Pink (Katie O’Regan); Elise Margaret – Narrator Two (Elise Storlie).

Welcome to Rhymeington, USA, where the Dream Café and Spa is ready to heal what ails you. Lovers, dreamers, parents, workaholics – and, sometimes, even angels – find themselves transformed and inspired in this entertaining, self-help comedy for the entire family. 

No food will be permitted at the staged reading, and masks are encouraged. Attendees are asked to bring their own lawn chairs; the spacious lawn will provide ample room for social distancing. 

The special premiere of Ed Asner Spring Grove Soda will be available for purchase, and the evening will include popcorn and many surprises. Suggested price per person is $10. Kids 12 and under get in free.

The event is a fundraiser for the Spring Grove International Film Festival Sept. 11-13, presented by Giants of the Earth Heritage Center and Sacred Noise Society, Inc.
