Hutchinson Bridge could reopen by end of next week
Thursday, April 12, 2018 12:42 PM
Depending on the weather, the Hutchinson Bridge on Scenic River Road north of Decorah could reopen by the end of next week, according to Winneshiek County Engineer Lee Bjerke.
Following a routine bridge inspection, the bridge was closed Thursday morning due to deterioration. However, Bjerke said county crews would be able to replace beams that have corroded away near the abutments to allow it to reopen. The three-ton load limit restriction will remain in place.
The Hutchinson Bridge is a through-truss bridge that was built in 1911.

I do hope it won’t be replaced with a 4-lane bypass. More economical to repair, don’t ya think?

Repair is essential. It sees at lot of traffic in a day! What alternate route is there? None I know of.

So when did the Henry Bridge become the "Hutchinson Bridge"?
