A virtual online achievement auction will replace the traditional Winneshiek County Fair Livestock Auction this year. Bidding gets under way Saturday, July 18, at 10 a.m, and concludes at 5 p.m. Monday, July 20.

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach officials have been working with several area partners to include the auction, while still respecting the health and safety concerns due to COVID-19.

The auction is designed to recognize the hard work and accomplishments of county 4-H and FFA youth with their livestock projects.

Additional information is posted on the online auction website: sweeneyauctionservice.com

As this is an achievement show only, any exhibitor wishing to take the additional opportunity to sell the animal for harvest it is the responsibility of the exhibitor to contact potential buyers. Transportation of the animal, locker availability, etc. are the responsibility of the exhibitor and buyer.

Payment will not be made online. Although bidders will receive an emailed invoice from Sweeney Auction Service, all checks will be payable to ISU Extension & Outreach and sent to ISU Extension & Outreach, Winneshiek County, 325 Washington Street, Suite B, Decorah, IA 52101.

There is an additional opportunity to give a donation. Listed after the exhibitor lots, those interested will find donation lots in the amounts of $25, $50 and $100 levels. These donations will be split up amongst the participating exhibitors, however, bidders will have the opportunity to specify if a donation should be directed to a specific exhibitor.
