Jacob Seelinger, pictured consulting with his attorney James Metcalf, was sentenced to 50 years in prison during his sentencing hearing in Winneshiek County District Court Monday afternoon. A jury found Seelinger guilty in July of second-degree murder for his role in the beating death of David Hansen of rural Decorah in the summer of 2018. Seelinger's alleged accomplice, Dalton Adam, is scheduled to to go to trial on a first-degree murder charge Oct. 28. In a hearing on a motion for change of venue immediately after Seelinger's sentencing, Judge Richard Stochl ordered Adam's trial be moved to Chickasaw County.
