The Decorah School Board hopes to select a new District superintendent on or before Friday, Feb. 1.
The Decorah School Board and search consultants recently met in closed session to review 28 applicants for the superintendent’s position. Superintendent Mike Haluska, who began his duties as Decorah superintendent July 1, 2007, after heading the Jefferson-Scranton School District, is retiring.
Based on application materials and references, the Board has selected seven candidates to move forward for screening interviews on Jan. 22. The Board will identify finalists for the position after screening these candidates, which will include a 25-minute electronic interview. Finalists’ names will then become public.
Formal interviews will be held at Luther College. The formal interview schedule for Jan. 28 will include formal interview teams, a district tour, community tour and board interview.
