The Decorah and Winneshiek County Mutual Aid Network started as a web page to connect people with needs to a network of local volunteers who can help fill those needs.
The network can now be reached via phone calls only at: 563-362-2288 Monday through Friday during regular business hours.
“We quickly realized that while the internet is a great way to communicate, there are many people who don’t have access to it these days,” says Mutual Aid Network administrator, Kristin Eggen. “I hope this hotline makes asking for and offering help all the more accessible to people.”
The Decorah and Winneshiek County Mutual Aid Network hotline will be available from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. Volunteer coordinators will help connect people to community resources and the growing Mutual Aid volunteer network. Ways that volunteers can help include: running errands, walking dogs, offering childcare help, phone conversations, supporting community resources like the food shelf and meals on wheels.
The goal of the mutual aid network is to help provide neighbor to neighbor aid during the COVID19 outbreak. Learn more, as for help, or join the volunteer list at decorahnow.com/mutual-aid-network or by calling 563-362-2288.
The mutual aid network is a partnership of DecorahNow and Winneshiek Development and Tourism.
