The 13th annual Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce(DACC) Ag Appreciation Luncheon is Wednesday, March 19, at 11:30 a.m. at the Danan Lansing Building on the Winneshiek County Fairgrounds.

The annual luncheon celebrates the partnerships between the DACC, local business and agriculture in the community. This year’s menu includes a hot beef sundae.

This year, the DACC ag committee will host Iowa Farm Bureau National Policy Advisor Kevin Kuhle as the featured speaker at the luncheon. He will speak on the recently passed Agricultural Act of 2014 (the Farm Bill) and how it supports farmers, rural communities, nutritional needs and conservation efforts. He works with Iowa’s congressional delegation and federal agencies on issues that affect Iowa’s farmers, and also with county Farm Bureaus on national issues. Kuhle coordinates Iowa Farm Bureau’s activities with the American Farm Bureau in Washington, D.C.

Following Kuhle’s  presentation, the ag committee will award two “Friend in Agriculture” awards: one to a business and one to an individual. The “Friend in Ag” awards go to an individual and business whose efforts have created a positive impact to agriculture in Winneshiek County.

The event will also feature the annual ag scholarship recipients. These $350 scholarships assist one local high school senior and one NICC college student with plans to further their education in agriculture-related fields.

Tickets for the ag luncheon are available at the DACC, through ag committee members or online at our events registration page on our website Tickets are $9 each or $64 for a table of eight. Advance ticket purchase is encouraged, as food is limited.
