The Decorah Planning and Zoning Commission is scheduled to consider a site plan for a new Kwik Star off Montgomery Street at its meeting Monday night, Aug. 12.
The majority of the application appears to comply with Decorah City Code, according to City Manager Chad Bird. Plans call for a 7,298 square foot main structure with a 3,800 square-foot fueling canopy.
Kirk Star may need variances for off-street loading space and signage. The proposed location is where the Nordic Express convenience store is located. Nordic Express has been closed since December when a fire caused significant damage to the structure. It would be torn down to make way for a new Kwik Star.
Kwik Star would continue to operate its convenience store on Short Street if a new store is built off Montgomery Street.
