A Monday morning crash claimed the lives of two sisters from rural Decorah.The conditions of their three brothers who were injured in the crash were updated Wednesday morning.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, Avery Arneson, 17, Decorah, was northbound on county road W-40 north of Decorah at about 8 a.m. as Gage Dahlberg, 15, Decorah, was southbound. Arneson lost control and her vehicle crossed the center line, sliding sideways. Dahlberg’s pickup truck collided with the passenger side of Arneson’s car, the Patrol reported.
Arneson and her 13-year-old sister, Aiden Arneson, were killed in the accident. Their brothers, Alexander and James Arneson, both 14, and Jack Arneson, 15, and Dahlberg were all injured and taken by ambulance from the scene.
Jack Arneson was treated at Gundersen Lutheran in La Crosse and has since been released. Alexander was listed in fair condition at Gundersen Wednesday morning and James was listed in good condition.
Dahlberg was taken to Winneshiek Medical Center, which could not disclose his condition because he is a minor.
