A woman was rescued Wednesday afternoon after a fall at Ice Cave.
At 5:38 p.m. April 1, the Decorah Police Department received a call that a woman had fallen and possibly broken her ankle in the cave.
The Decorah Police Department, Decorah Fire and Rescue and Winneshiek Medical Center Ambulance Service responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, officers located a female who had slipped on a slab of clear ice at the mouth of the cave and had slid down into the cave. As a result of her fall, she had severely damaged her ankle.
After rescue crews stabilized the injury and extracted her from the cave, she was taken by ambulance to Winneshiek Medical Center.
