The Decorah School District reminds residents that with the exception of the first day of school Wednesday, Aug. 20, there will be a one-hour late start every Wednesday school is in session.
At its March meeting, the Decorah School Board approved the measure, which will give the District a dedicated time slot for staff professional development each week.
At the time, Superintendent Mike Haluska said districts setting aside weekly time for professional development is a widespread practice, and that five of the seven schools in Decorah’s conference have a regularly set time for professional development with either a late start or early out.
The first day of school will begin at 8 a.m. with subsequent Wednesdays beginning at 9 a.m.
