A local gaming spot will be getting a new name and a new location.
The Game Exchange on Winnebago St. will be moving to the former location of Mr. Groovy’s on Water St. and shortening its name to “Game X,” according to Owner Tim Borseth.
Borseth opened the Game Exchange four years ago. It specializes in movies and video games and Magic the Gathering (a trading card game).
He said he is making the move to double the size of his space.
“Since we opened, we have developed this gaming community that also serves as sort of an after-school clubhouse,” said Borseth.
“What motivated me to make the move is that the new building will have twice the space, which will allow for a dedicated game room.”
Borseth said he invites anyone interested in gaming to come give it a try.
“It’s a place for positive social gather,” said Borseth, adding that bullying is never allowed and inappropriate behavior is addressed immediately.
“It needs to be fun for everyone.”

What they offer
In addition to offering an environment for gaming, Game X also sells a variety of gaming systems dating back to the 70s.
“We specialize in a lot of retro items, dating back to Pong, Atari and XBOX 1,” he said.
In addition, Borseth repairs game systems, small electronics and screens for iPhones and iPods.
He also offers a variety of tabletop (board) games for sale and is investigating the possibility of renting movies and video games.

How it works
Borseth said use of the Game X game room is free if a customer brings his or her own game system. Those wishing to rent games or systems can do so for a marginal fee.
Hours are 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday, with Friday night “game nights” sometimes lasting until midnight.
