The Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office and Calmar Police Department investigated an incident/disturbance that took place early Thursday morning in Calmar involving shots fired. Nobody was injured during the incident. Both subjects are in custody and there is no ongoing threat to the public. The Winneshiek County Attorney’s Office and Decorah Police Department assisted.

Fahad Abukar, 19, of Rochester, Minn., was arrested and booked into the Winneshiek County Jail for class C felony burglary, class C felony intimidation with a dangerous weapon, class D felony control of a firearm by a felon, aggravated misdemeanor carrying weapons, aggravated misdemeanor reckless use of a firearm and operating while under the influence.

Daniel Burt-Vasquez, 17, of Rochester, Minn., was referred to juvenile court services for class D felony going armed with intent, aggravated misdemeanor carrying a weapon and aggravated misdemeanor assault with a dangerous weapon.
