The Western Home String Band will host a contra dance Saturday, Nov. 11.
Dancing begins at 7:30 at The Lingonberry, 218 W. Water Street in Decorah.

“If you have not already, please come and check out the Lingonberry space. [We] are excited about the wood floors and the energy of this new downtown gathering space,” an organizer said. “Come celebrate the turning of the seasons with an all-ages community dance.”

Bill Deutsch calls dances regularly in the area, and enjoys teaching simple to intermediate level dances. Walking and swing moves for each dance are taught, and beginners of all ages are welcome.

The Western Home String Band features experienced players and those who are learning the style. Participants will dance to fiddle, mandolin, guitar, bass, banjo, Irish drum and other acoustic instruments playing reels, jigs and a few waltzes.

Admission is $7, with kids 12 and under free. Everyone is asked to wear comfortable shoes and layered clothing. No partner is necessary.
