Croell of New Hampton has submitted the low bid for the North Winn Road reconstruction.
The Winneshiek County Board of Supervisors is expected to consider awarding a contract for the project during its meeting Monday, March 12
Croell’s bid of $2,214,814 is about 10 percent over the estimate of County Engineer Lee Bjerke. He said he won’t know a timetable for the work until contracts are signed.
Ideally, he said it would start after the conclusion of the school year. Paving will take place on the southern half of the road.
“It shouldn’t take that long – it’s only four miles,” Bjerke said.
While it’s under construction, Bjerke said there would be some issues with providing access for residents.
“There aren’t a lot of side roads. We’re going to have to do some work getting them in and out. Hopefully it will go pretty good,” he said.
When the concrete is curing, no one can be on the road.
“It’s will be a pain for some (residents),” he said.
