The Winneshiek County 2016 Flood Relief program has been established to help link those who want to donate locally to flood relief, and those who need assistance.
Donations can be made by writing checks to: “NEICA FLOOD FUND.” Donations to this flood-relief effort are fully tax deductible through Northeast Iowa Community Action. Donors should write their preferred county to receive funds (Winneshiek, Fayette, Clayton, Howard) on the memo line of their checks. Donations will be received at the Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce (DACC) offices.
Flood victims are invited to fill out the information beginning Sept. 1 and mail it to Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce, 507 W. Water St., Decorah, Iowa 52101, or drop it off at the Chamber office. Recipients must be current residents of Winneshiek County and the flood-damaged home must be in Winneshiek County.
“We did this project in 2008 and raised $37,000 that went directly to support flood victims. Unfortunately, we are here again with those who need assistance following this disaster,” said Nikki Brevig, executive director of the DACC.
“We appreciate the opportunity to provide this resource to the community in the time of need. Every dollar raised is given back to those who need it.”
Winneshiek County 2016 Flood Relief is a joint project involving the Decorah Area Chamber of Commerce, United Way of Winneshiek County and Northeast Iowa Community Action.
