A daytime singing circle for women of all ages begins Oct. 27 at ArtHaus in Decorah.
“Grandmas, mamas, sisters, girlfriends, neighbors, and children are all welcome at “Mama-Cita” roughly translated as ‘time to sing with the women!’” said Liz Rog, organizer of the event.
The non-auditioned, non-performing group will meet at ArtHaus on Friday’s from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., starting Oct. 27. Registration is now open by phone 563-382-8013, or by email liz@decorahnow.com.
“Women will experience the freedom, energy and pure magic of singing together. Whether you think of yourself as a non-singer, a pro, or anything in-between, Mama-Cita welcomes you. Your voice matters to the whole and you can join the space that is cozy, safe, and nurturing for women. There’s no spotlight, no audition, no performing; just an opportunity to step into present moment together and sing in community, resting in the comfort of ‘we,’” said Rog.
Rog encourages attendees to come alone or with their baby or toddler, all are welcome and she promises a fun and uplifting time.
“The songs are easy-to-learn, playful, beautiful songs that speak the timeless themes of love, kindness, joy, power, creativity, grief. The songs are lullabies, songs in other languages, songs from long ago and songs from this time. All songs are meant to be woven into your everyday life,” Rog said.
Rog will teach all songs by ear to the group
