Emily Neal has been re-elected as the Ward 2 representative on the Decorah City Council and Kirk Johnson will serve another four-year term as the Council’s at-large representative.
In Tuesday’s city election, Neal receved 338 votes (70 percent) while her opponent, Dan Kirkeby, received 146 votes (30 percent).
Neal was appointed to fill a vacancy when Council member Dan Bellrichard moved from his ward in July. Neal also defeated Kirkeby in a special election in September.
Johnson received 57 percent – 884 – of the votes cast for the at-large position, while his opponent, former Council member Gary Rustad, received 43 percent – 669 votes.
Council member Steve Luse was re-elected to his Ward 4 seat on the Council after running unopposed.
Richard Gaard, Kathy Bakken and Brian Fuhrmann were all elected to the Decorah Park Rec Board.
It was the first time school and city elections were combined on the same day. Winneshiek County Auditor Ben Steines reported of the county’s 13,724 registered voters, 3,020 – 22 percent – cast ballots.

City of Calmar
Calmar Mayor Keith Frana won re-election, defeating opponent Jason Drucker by a vote of 167 to 117.
Elected Councilperson at large were Linus J. Sabelka, Jeanie Kirkeberg and Keith Gerlich. Also running for the seats were Pat Nervig and Gary Barness.
City of Castalia
Jamie K. Smith was elected mayor after running unopposed.
Wayne Corlett, Dennis Wilkins and Benjamin Martin were elected as at-large Council members. Also running were Thomas W. Schultz and Lowell Corlett.
City of Fort Atkinson
Fort Atkinson Mayor Paul R. Herold was re-elected after running unopposed.
Elected to serve as Councilpersons at large were David J. Schneiter, Kay Schmitt and Paul G. Schmitt.
City of Jackson Junction
Jackson Junction Mayor Mae Schmitt was re-elected after running unopposed.
Elected Councilpersons at large were Richard Vrzak, Lana Schmitt, Art Perry, Kenneth Kriener and Rodney Vrzak.
City of Ossian
Ossian Mayor Chuck Covell was defeated Tuesday by Bryan Beckman. Beckman received 160 votes while Covell receved 102 votes
Graham Goltz, Daniel Langreck and Susan Lienau were elected Councilpersons at large. Also running was Rodney M. Hemesath.
City of Ridgeway
Sue Schnur was elected Ridgeway mayor; she had no opposition.
Allyn Linderbaum, Zack Walsh and Ryan Ramsey were elected Councilpersons at large.
City of Spillville
Michael T. Klimesh was re-elected Spillville’s mayor after running unopposed.
Renee L. Wagner and Darrell G. Schmitt were elected Councilpersons at large.
