The Decorah Community School Board is taking its first step toward selling the North Winneshiek School property.

The Board scheduled a special work session for Wednesday, Aug. 19, at 6 p.m. at North Winn School. Board members will tour the school and then hold a special meeting to discuss the future of the property north of Decorah, and other agenda items.

“It’s the Board’s intention that we’re (eventually) not the owners of that property. A conversation was had about how to start moving toward that,” said Superintendent Mark Lane following Monday’s meeting.

Lane said since the Decorah/North Winneshiek districts consolidated, the Board has been monitoring how much money is being spent toward maintaining the property.
