ArtHaus welcomes artist Troy Thomas to the gallery next week.

An opening reception for the artist is Friday, Feb. 21, at 7 p.m. at ArtHaus (107 W. Broadway, Decorah).

This event is free to the public.

Thomas’ artwork is a mix of impressionism and abstract mixed-media – watercolors, pen and ink – influenced by the dichotomy of our complex society compared to the simplicity of the outdoors and nature.

“I intensely embrace our environment as a kayaker, wilderness guide and have become a passionate observer of worldwide issues,” says Thomas. “The works presented represent my free flowing ideas using mixed media on paper. They are a vivid display of my emotions, feelings, desires and reactions to society, occupations and world events. Through bold bright colored brush strokes and swirling mixed materials I have conveyed my thoughts.”

Thomas’ art will be on display from Feb. 21 to March 21. This show is sponsored by Decorah Bank and Trust.
