Although temperatures are rising, residents who have been running water to prevent their pipes from freezing should continue to do so.

Decorah Water Superintendent Todd Ihde told the Decorah City Council Monday night that he’s hoping by the middle of next week those residents will not need to continue running their water.

Due to the extreme cold and depth of the ground frost this winter, residents were asked to monitor the water temperatures in their homes and businesses. If the water temperature was below 40 degrees Fahrenheit, they were asked to run a thin stream of water from their faucet.
