The Decorah Town and Country Garden Club will sponsor a home tour and a small standard flower show Saturday, May 17, from 1-4 p.m.

The flower show will be staged in the home of Janice and the late Ray Blanchard and will consist of designs, horticultural specimens and special exhibits. The theme of the show is “Flowers in the Valley” because the home is located in a scenic valley six miles northeast of Decorah at 1461 Norske Road.

The Blanchards built the house in 1996, and named it “Whispering Springs” because a spring flows from below the house and offers a sense of peace and quietness to the area. Located on the side of a hill, the house has many unique design features.

To facilitate traffic and parking, tours are scheduled at six half hour intervals. The first tour begins at 1 p.m. and the last tour at 3:30 p.m.

Refreshments will be served.

A limited number of tickets will be sold in advance only ($10 donation) and may be purchased from garden club members or by calling 382-3088.

The Town and Country Garden Club is a member of National Garden Clubs, Inc. and the Federated Garden Clubs of Iowa. Profits from the event will be used for the club’s ongoing  projects in the community. Marian Rovang-Rude currently serves as the club’s president.
