The Decorah Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire at the Super 8 Motel parking lot Thursday at about 8 p.m.
When firefighters arrived, a contractor’s utility truck had fire coming from the engine compartment. The fire was knocked down and brought under control quickly.
No injuries were reported. The chassis of the truck owned by Swick Cable Contractors of Cedar Rapids appeared to be a total loss.
The cause of the fire is undetermined, but does not appear to be suspicious. The Decorah Fire Department was assisted by the Decorah Police Department. (Photo courtesy Malissa Kappes)
