The search is under way for a new Winneshiek Medical Center chief administrative officer.
The effort comes following the resignation of CAO Gretchen Dahlen earlier this month.
At a recent Board of Trustees meeting, Joe Kruse, CAO at Franciscan Healthcare in La Crosse, Wis., which provides administrative services to WMC through a management-service agreement, introduced the Board to Interim CAO Lisa Radtke and said the recruitment process was “rolling.”
“We’re starting the process to search for a permanent CAO,” said Kruse.
Kruse said after a review of the job description, the position would be posted internally for review by Mayo Clinic employees in the U.S.
“We will be working with the local human resources team here with advice from Mayo Clinic about external advertising,” he said.
Kruse said a search committee will be established, which will include himself, three members of the Board in addition to the CEO of Franciscan-Skemp, two physicians from the Decorah clinical practice and two members of WMC’s senior management team.
He said after about a month of generating applications through advertising, the search committee will meet and identify up to three candidates for the Board’s consideration.

Going well
Kruse complimented WMC on being “welcoming and helpful” to Radtke during her transition to interim CAO.
He said Radtke has a clinical and administrative background and she is one of Mayo’s strongest administrative leaders for human resources in Southwest, Wis.
Radtke will spend approximately 60 percent of her week in Decorah until a permanent replacement is found.
“It is a great joy to be able to be here and to serve in this way,” said Radtke.
