Donna Halverson, 67, of Decorah, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at her home. Services were at 2 p.m. Monday, March 3, at Decorah Lutheran Church, with Rev. Dave Sorenson and Rev. Bryan Robertson officiating. Organist was Kathy Murray. A special reading was by Denise Krauskopf. Hymns were “How Great Thou Art” and “In the Garden.” Special music was "Peace in the Valley," by Elvis Presley. Interment is at Hauge Cemetery, Decorah, in the spring. Honorary casketbearers were Donna’s grandchildren. Arrangements were handled by Schluter – Balik Funeral Home in Decorah.
Donna Jean (Lundy) Halverson was born Oct. 8, 1946, the daughter of Walter and Gladys (Olson) Lundy in Decorah. Donna graduated from Decorah High School in 1964. She worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone as an operator in Decorah, before getting married to Douglas Halverson. To this union six children were born. They later divorced. Donna was a stay-at-home mother, keeping busy raising her family. She worked at the Winneshiek Medical Center in Decorah in housekeeping and laundry until Oct. 2013.  Donna loved Elvis, was an excellent cook, liked to plan birthday parties, family gatherings, shower her family with gifts and watch old TV shows.  She enjoyed movie nights with the grandchildren and could never pass up a deal when she was out shopping. She loved her family and grandchildren. Donna was a member of the Decorah Lutheran Church, VFW Auxiliary and also taught Sunday school.   
Donna is survived by her four children: Richelle (Mike Voltmer) Halverson, Decorah; Brent (Jill) Halverson, Waukon; Dana (Mark) Carolan, Decorah; and Joel (Cyndi) Halverson, Oklahoma City, Okla.; eight grandchildren: Madelyn, Zachary and Blake Jermier, Leslie and Nathan Halverson, Ava and Gavin Carolan and Luke Halverson; two brothers, Dale (Norma) Lundy, Decorah and Duane Lundy, Des Moines; along with many nieces and nephews. 
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Gladys (Olson) Lundy; and two children, Michelle and Bradley in infancy.
