Dear Editor:

Iowa has had a tradition of educational excellence at the university, community college and private college sites.

Public schools should not have a monopoly on state educational tax revenues.

As each student has different talents and educational needs, diversity of choice is good.

State tuition grants for students to attend Luther benefits not only them, but the city of Decorah as well. Luther is a terrific asset to our town.

Tuition grants could be expanded into Pre-K through Grade 12.

If some students could benefit from a St. Benedict education, give them a tuition grant to do so.

Competition and diversity or choice is good. Let us put the students’ needs first.

I have a lot of respect for Georgie Klevar, but disagree with her position that all state education dollars should go only to public schools.
