Within the 8-man District 2, Turkey Valley had eight athletes receive all-district nods recently.

First team

Four Trojans were listed as First Team honorees in the district; Marcus Herold, Garrett Kurtenbach, Kalvin Langreck and Noah Hanson.

For Herold it’s his second all-district nod as he was named an honorable mention selection as a sophomore last year. As one of TV’s main running backs, the junior averaged 4.8 yards a carry on his way to a team-high 594 yards for the season in his 123 carries. He also hauled in 14 passes for an additional 196 yards. In all he carried the pigskin into the end zone 12 times. Herold also led the Trojan defense with 51.5 total tackles of which 34 were solo stops and five were for a loss. He booted 11 punts for 396 yards and had six kickoffs for 234 yards.

Picking up his first all-district nod, Kurtenbach was second in tackles for the Red and White with 47.5 total tackles, picking up 29 solo takedowns. The junior recovered two fumbles, returning one for a 31-yard TD return. Offensively, the junior had 15 receptions for 274 yards and scored five offensive touchdowns for the Trojans.

Langreck was the Trojans’ main quarterback and completed 52-of-87 passes for 861 yards, tossing 10 for touchdowns. The senior added 298 yards and six touchdowns on the ground as he kept the ball 61 times.

Carrying the ball out of the backfield, Hanson had 62 touches of the pigskin and ran for 308 yards and five TDs. He put some time in as the TV quarterback, completing 13-for-35 passes for 230 yards. As cornerback, the sophomore tallied 22 total tackles of which 16 were solo stops. Hanson also had one interception.

Second team

Garnering second team honors for the Trojans were juniors Collin Kleppe and Austin Kuehner.

Kleppe played on both sides of the line, picking up 14 total tackles with eight being solo stops. The TV offense garnered a total of 3,064 yards with Kleppe’s assistance.

As a cornerback, Kuehner compiled 12 total stops with six solo tackles.

Honorable mention

Sophomores Robert Kruse and Carson Busta garnered honorable mention nods for their first all-district honors.

Putting his time in on the line, Kruse drug down 36 opponents with 16 solo tackles and one fumble recovery. He was part of an offense that scored 39 touchdowns.

Busta carried the pigskin 42 times for 164 yards, averaging 3.9 yards per carry. He also had eight receptions for an additional 89 yards of offense for the Trojans. Defensively Busta had seven solo tackles with 18 total stops and one interception that he ran back for 36 yards.
