The Turkey Valley cross country teams competed against a talented field at Starmont Tuesday with the Class 1A No. 11 girls’ team finish 11th in the 19-team field. The boys had just two athletes on the course, competing in the junior varsity race.

Leading the way for the Lady Trojans was Class 1A No. 4 Jalyssa Blazek, racing to the finish line in 20:26.88 as the runner-up. Class 1A No. 2-ranked Haley Meyer of Kee High broke the tape in 20:00.09. Touring the course in 22:29.91 was Jaycie Byrne, good for 23rd place, while Cambree Kruse finished 26th. The junior stopped the clock at 22:34.32.

Rosalie Busta crossed the finish line in 25:58.12 to earn 104th place and Hailey Elsbernd rounded out the Trojans’ team score in 27:58.21, good for 128th place.

In the junior varsity boys’ race, junior Dale Schwamman came through with a time of 22:34.31 to finish 44th overall. Nelson Reicks was also on the course, clocking in at 29:21.33, good for 137th place.

Turkey Valley continues running Tuesday, Sept. 22, at the Waukon invitational at 4 p.m.
