The Decorah softball team (9-8, 6-6 NEIC) put another tally in the win column, shutting out Oelwein (3-14, 0-9 NEIC) Monday night at home, 4-0.

The Vikings put together two runs in the second and fourth frames to come out on top as Avery Shelton twirled efficiently on the mound to strike out 13 Huskie batters, giving up just three hits and walking two.

At the plate, Decorah pounded out seven hits. Emma Johnson and Ambria Pipho accounted for two singles apiece with Johnson driving in two runs and Pipho one. Contributing a hit and an RBI was Ella Kittelson. The Vikings’ other two singles were provided by Cora Syverson and Shelton.

Decorah heads to Waverly-Shell Rock tonight, Thursday, June 20, for a 7 p.m. game and Saturday the Vikings host their annual tournament beginning at 9 a.m.
