Two local young women —Bryar Duwe and Ali Hoffert — were selected by their respective classes to represent Region 3 by the Iowa Basketball Coaches Association.

Duwe, a Decorah freshman, led the team in points scored with 282, averaging 12.8 a night. She posted a 40.1 field-goal percentage in her first varsity season and hit 28-for-94 from beyond the arc, while leading the Vikings at the free throw line, going 40-for-57. She had a team-high 42 steals to go with 47 assists, while grabbing 80 total rebounds (17 offensive, 63 defensive).

Hoffert topped several charts for the Turkey Valley girls’ team, scoring 372 points this season, putting up 15.5 points per game. She was hot from the free throw line, hitting 73.5 percent of her shots (108-for-147), while going 43.5 percent from the field. Hoffert also crashed the boards effectively, coming away with 176 total rebounds (91 offensive, 85 defensive) while leading the Trojans with 77 assists. The junior also added 67 steals and 15 blocks to the stat sheet this season.
