   Four starting members of the Turkey Valley and South Winn girls’ basketball teams notched honors recently as members of the Upper Iowa Conference all-conference girls’ basketball list.
   Turkey Valley senior Emily Busta is the lone first team honoree. Trojan Elli Winter, along with Warriors Jaden Schweinefus and Ali Hoffert received second team designation. Noted on the honorable mention list were TV’s Kassidy Reicks and Katlyn Baumler with South Winn’s Gracie Schmitt and Tiffany Riehle.

First team
   After a season off recuperating from an injury, Emily Busta returned to the hardwood for her senior campaign to lead the Trojans. With a 12.0 point per game average, E. Busta led Turkey Valley and finished the season with a 33.6 percent field goal percentage, while draining 28 from behind the three-point line. She further led the team in steals and assists with 50 and 33, respectively. She was second in blocked shots with 27. Off the rim, E. Busta grabbed 90 total rebounds (37 offensive, 53 defensive) and averaged 3.9 rebounds per night. As a sophomore, Busta had been a second team honoree.

Second team
   Turkey Valley senior Elli Winter, along with South Winn senior Jaden Schweinefus and freshman Ali Hoffert were second team selections. Winter and Schweinefus were both named to the honorable mention lists a year ago.
   Winter was second on the Trojans squad in scoring with 12.1 points per night and led the team in field goal percentage at 40.7 percent (87-for-214). With 113 rebounds (29 offensive, 84 defensive), Winter was second for the Red and Black, as well as blocking 20 shots, grabbing 29 steals and handing out 17 assists.
   Team leader, Schweinefus led the Lady Warriors in scoring, averaging 9.3 points per game. She contributed 196 total points and topped the free throw percentage column at 65.3 percent, converting on 32-of-49 attempts. She also knocked down 28 three-pointers. The senior was second on the South Winn squad three other columns including 34 assists, 36 steals and five blocks. She pulled down 96 total rebounds (27 offensive, 69 defensive).
   Hoffert kicked off her high school career as the second-leading scorer, averaging 8.3 points per night as she contributed a total of 174 points to the Warriors’ campaign. She was first on the team in assists with 39, as well as grabbing a team-high 38 steals and garnering 11 blocks. The starting freshman pulled down 87 total rebounds (36 offensive, 51 defensive).

Honorable mention
   All four honorable mention athletes earn their first All-UIC nod.
   For Turkey Valley, senior Kassidy Reicks contributed 73 total points for the season, averaging 3.0 per night. She pulled down 93 rebounds, to go with 33 steals and 10 assists.
   Trojan sophomore Katlyn Baumler led the Red and Black in rebounds with a total of 139 (62 offensive, 77 defensive), for a 5.8 rebound per night average, to go with a team-high 34 blocks. With 144 total points scored, Baumler was third on the TV squad. She topped the team in free throw percentage with 62.9 percent, converting 22-for-35.
   South Winn senior Tiffany Riehle earned her first all-UIC nod with a 5.9 point per game average. She paced the team with a 40.5 field goal percentage (51-for-126), while contributing a total of 123 points. With 101 rebounds (40 offensive, 61 defensive), Riehle was second for the Warriors, along with 17 assists and 12 steals.
   Pulling down a total of 136 rebounds (60 offensive, 76 defensive), junior Gracie Schmitt led the Warriors throughout the season under the basket. She contributed 66 points, along with dishing out 26 assists and grabbing 28 steals.
