Tuesday night the Decorah boys basketball team (1-1, 1-0 NEIC) gave Head Coach Jonathan Carlson his first varsity win as the Vikings defeated Waukon (2-1 0-1 NEIC) 61-45 at home.

A strong defensive effort in the second half limited the Indians to just 18 points in the second half.

"We were a little excited to start the game, and give Waukon credit, they really shot the ball well early," said Carlson.

How it went down

The Vikes fell behind early and trailed 14-18 at the first half break. From there, the Viking offense took over, with threes launched by Patrick Larson and Josh Miller, giving Decorah a 24-22 lead midway through the period. At the half, they led 32-27.
