Kyrie Jorgensen has been hired as the head girls soccer coach at Decorah High School, pending school board approval.
Jorgenson will replace Julie Shockey, who resigned after ten years of leading the program.
Jorgenson graduated from the University of Northwestern in St. Paul in 2011, where she was a four-time all-conference performer and is currently the all-time leading scorer in Eagle Women’s soccer history with 61 career goals. During her prep years, she was a four-year letter winner and standout for Decorah High School and helped lead the Vikings to a regional final in 2007. Jorgenson also serves as the head coach for the girls swimming and diving program.
“I am honored at the opportunity to coach girls soccer for Decorah. I look forward to the challenges of leading this group of student athletes while continuing to strengthen the tradition of quality soccer in Decorah. I'm excited to get started,” she said.
“We are looking forward to Coach Jorgenson stepping into her new role with the girls soccer program. Her experiences at Northwestern as well as being a former Viking player have prepared Kyrie well to lead the girls program.  Coach Jorgenson has great pride and passion for Decorah soccer, which will be a great asset to the student-athletes and families who participate in our program,” said Activities Direct Adam Riley.
