Decorah senior Michael Bruening was recently named to the Class 1A Central District and All-State First Teams.

   Several members of the Decorah boys’ bowling team were honored by the Iowa Coaches Association recently as selections on the all-district team and one as an All-State selection.
   The Vikings finished the season with a perfect 10-0 dual meet record, led by a host of seniors in their second year of competition.
   Seniors Michael Bruening and Tyler Vande Lune were selected to the Class 1A Central District first team. M. Bruening also earned a distinction on the Class 1A All-State first team. Fellow senior, Dawson Holkesvik was selected as a Central District second team honoree. Coach Keith Bruening was also honored as the Class 1A Central District Coach of the Year.
   At the district meet held at Oneota Lanes in Decorah, M. Bruening just missed qualifying individually for state with scores of 234 and 202, to finish fourth overall. At the individual conference meet several weeks earlier, the senior finished third in the field of 24.
   Vande Lune concluded his career in sixth place at the district meet with scores of 209 and 225 and just missed the conference finals, to finish ninth.
   Second team honoree, Dawson Holkesvik had a solid season for the Vikings, picking up a pair of 190 games in the state-qualifying meet.
   For the second year in a row, the Vikings just missed qualifying for state, taking second to Charles City at the district meet.
