After finishing second in the conference during the season, the Decorah volleyball team (18-11, 6-2 NEIC) finished 3-3 at last week’s Northeast Iowa Conference tournament held in two days.

The Vikes started off the conference tournament Thursday at New Hampton with wins over Crestwood (2-7, 3-13 NEIC) by set scores 11-21 and 17-21. Decorah also defeated Waukon (5-12, 1-8 NEIC). Set scores were 22-20 and 21-8.

The tournament continued Saturday with a win over Oelwein (4-30, 2-10 NEIC). The Vikings defeated the Hawks 21-10 and 21-16. The latter part of the tournament was a bit tougher for Decorah as the Red and Blue fell to Charles City (16-16, 8-4 NEIC) in three sets of 17-21, 21-15 and 10-15 and New Hampton (15-11, 7-4 NEIC) by two sets of 18-21. The day ended versus Waverly-Shell Rock (37-8, 9-0 NEIC) in sets of 15-21 and 9-21.

Decorah will move into the postseason tonight (Tuesday, Oct. 20) at home versus Mason City at 7 p.m. A win will put the Vikings in the regional semifinal versus Waverly-Shell Rock Thursday, Oct. 22, in Waverly at 7 p.m.
